The kitchen of one home at Killymaddy was badly damaged by fire when inflammable liquid was poured in and set alight after a window was smashed by a brick.

The family of four escaped injury in the attack, which occurred at 2.45 a.m.

They were alerted by a smoke alarm.

About 15 minutes later, an elderly couple were awakened by the sound of breaking glass at their Donaghmore Road home.

Windows in their bedroom, livingroom and front door were smashed by bricks.
