Russborough House, the Co Wicklow stately home which was recently extensively damaged by fire, will reopen tomorrow to mark Mother’s Day.
The fire broke out on February 7th in the west wing which was being renovated to provide for luxury self- catering accommodation. Eighty per cent of the roof was damaged.
A report by conservation architects Howley Hayes for the Alfred Beit Foundation, which owns the building, said the fire had not damaged the external walls, windows, carved stone urns or its decorative plasterwork.
A temporary tarpaulin structure has been erected and work on restoring the roof will begin next week and will take three months.
