Rwanda will be a high priority issue during Ireland's Presidency of the EU, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Joan Burton, said yesterday. At a public meeting organisation by Cairde Rwanda and Comhlamh, she said the international community had a major responsibility to support the Rwandan people.
"Humanitarian aid is critical but it is no substitute for coherent political engagement and preventive diplomacy", she said.
