Mexico City - The older brother of former Mexican president Mr Carlos Salinas yesterday protested at a decision by Swiss authorities to sequester $114.4 million (£74.5 million) in frozen bank accounts they said was drug money.

The Swiss Attorney General's Office said in a statement yesterday it had decided not to press charges against Mr Raul Salinas for money-laundering, because he was already on trial in Mexico. In an open letter from Almoloya maximum security prison outside Mexico City, Mr Salinas said he could prove the money was deposited by businessmen for investment.
