London - An explosion in a vehicle in the Saudi capital yesterday killed a British man and injured his wife, Riyadh police said.
Riyadh Police Chief Abdullah al-Shahrani said the car, believed to have been booby-trapped, exploded at 10.23 a.m. Irish time. A statement said the male driver died from his injuries and his wife was treated and released from King Faisal Hospital.
In a statement from the British Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the Consul, Mr Ian Wilson, confirmed that the male victim had died. He said the couple were British civilians, but he declined to give their names or provide any other information about them.
