Berlin - The former Austrian Freedom Party leader, Mr Jorg Haider, has accused the German Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, of "hypocritical" behaviour in the debate about expansion of the European Union, writes Derek Scally.
In an interview with Germany's Die Welt newspaper, Mr Haider said Mr Schroder was hiding his fear of EU expansion through political games and "braking manoeuvres".
"We speak openly about the problems of rash expansion and subsequent immigration and are thrashed by Mr Schroder, although he thinks the same as us. His behaviour is hypocritical," said the governor of the Austrian state of Carinthia.
