US:California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent surgery yesterday to repair the leg he broke while skiing with family in Idaho over the weekend, a spokeswoman for his office said.
The operation to repair a fracture to the upper portion of his thigh bone, known as the femur, was expected to take less than two hours, she said. Schwarzenegger (59) was expected to remain in hospital for three days for observation.
His orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Kevin Ehrhart, said he would use crutches after the operation and he should take about eight weeks to recover.
Schwarzenegger broke his leg during a family vacation while skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, on December 23rd. - ( Reuters)
