The search for a vehicle which may have entered the sea near Doolin in Co Clare where a body was found has been called off for the day.
Two coastguard boats, Garda divers and shore search parties today scoured the area for the wreckage of a four-wheel drive vehicle and possibly a second body.
Earlier the Coastguard said the search was continuing as there were reports more than one person may have been in the vehicle, which was believed to have entered the sea on Sunday night.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: "Two coastguard boats, Garda divers and shore parties are searching for the wreckage of a jeep."
The spokesman said there were reports there may have been more than one person in the vehicle.
Supt Eamon Dolan, who is heading the investigation, said: "The search is continuing with the garda diving squad. There are no reports of a vehicle missing but we believe it may have gone off the cliffs. We are carrying out an extensive search of the area."
Supt Dolan said gardai were continuing to appeal to the public to help identify the body of a man which was found on Doolin Beach at 6.50am yesterday.
Gardai at Ennistymon Station described the man as in his late 20s or early 30s, over 6ft tall, of athletic build, with short brown hair and wearing a blue or green jumper, with red and white stripes.
Gardai said an identifying factor could be the man was wearing a yellow t-shirt with 'Monterey' on it.
The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis was due to carry out an autopsy on the body.
The Doolin coastguard boat and shore search parties were dispatched on Monday after a windsurfer reported seeing a body in the water just after midday.
The search will resume in the morning at 8 am.
