Staff at a university campus bank were threatened at gunpoint by armed raiders yesterday, for the second time in less than three weeks.

Two masked raiders, armed with a handgun, entered the AIB branch at the University of Limerick, in Castletroy, at 11 a.m. and demanded cash. The intruders made off with just over €1,000 in cash after threatening staff.

On October 18th, two masked men also raided the same branch, which is located in the heart of the busy UL campus. On that occasion they stole €9,000.

Gardaí confirmed last night that a number of men were arrested yesterday and were helping detectives with their inquiries.
