Three former Brown Thomas security guards who viciously beat two prison officers in a city centre brawl were given suspended sentences yesterday by Judge Elizabeth Dunne at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Scott Brady (25), of Glenmore Park, Ballyboden, and Pat McNulty (28), of Beatty Park, Celbridge, Co Kildare, got four-year sentences for assault causing harm to Mr Glen McNevin on April 9th, 1999. David Kearns (44), of Pineview Grove, Aylesbury, Dublin 24, had a two-year sentence suspended for assaulting Mr Stephen Dennehy. Mr McNevin told the court he suffered short-term memory loss from a fractured skull that required surgery.
