The Fianna Fail's president's dinner next week will move from its long-standing home, the Burlington Hotel, to the City West Hotel. And therein lies a tale. When Jurys, in effect, took over the Doyle Group they moved their own people into the Burlington. The long-serving general manager, John Glynn, was none too pleased and decamped for pastures new in City West. Fianna Fail sources say Glynn is the main reason the dinner has moved.
There is more than sentiment involved, however. So far, they have sold 1,850 tickets - more than the Burlington could have managed. Glynn is also doing an overnight deal - £30 per person sharing - to avoid post-dinner driving.
