A woman who stole clothes worth £205 from six stores was given the chance of community service yesterday. Mary Windrum (30), from Dolphin House, Dublin, pleaded guilty to stealing babywear, underwear, jeans and shoes from five city centre stores between July and October last year and babywear worth £38.20 from Roches Stores on August 15th.

Her solicitor, Ms Yvonne Bambury, told Dublin District Court Windrum was a mother of four children and had been a drug addict for 17 years but was now being detoxified in prison. Judge William Hamill, who was told Windrum had four previous convictions, remanded her in custody for one week for a community service report.
