A glance at the week that was
Dream Team
Real Madrid did a spot of shopping this week. It spent €65m on the Brazilian player Kaka - a world record. Then it broke that record before the week was out by splashing out €94m on Cristiano Ronaldo. Many fans were aghast. If that's what a whinging player with an inflated sense of his own greatness is worth, then there must be park league players worth double that.
Sleep on it
You know how it is - you put some money awayin a jar or something, then someone comes along and moves it or throws it out and you're down a few quid. Well, spare a thought for the Israeli woman who replaced her mother's mattress only to discover that it had been stuffed with $1 million.
By that stage it had been shipped to one of several landfills, along with 3,000 tonnes of other rubbish. The hunt goes on, with treasure hunters coming from miles around.
