BRITAIN: Seven people, including two from Belfast, were killed in a minibus crash in Manchester yesterday as they made their way to catch flights for their summer holidays.
Five groups were on board the minibus, a hotel courtesy taxi, when it crashed on the M56 in Greater Manchester at 5.40 a.m.
Police were on the scene within seconds but seven of those on board, including the driver, had already died.
A teenage girl remained in a critical condition last evening at a specialist hospital in Greater Manchester, while a woman was undergoing emergency surgery.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said the accident happened after the minibus, which was towing a luggage trailer, collided with a Toyota Carina as it pulled back into the left-hand lane of the motorway.
It then veered across the carriageway. - (PA)
