Sinn Fein has released a copy of notes it claims are from an RUC constable's notebook in which the officer details overhearing two colleagues discussing what sounded like a suicide pact, writes Clare Murphy.
Mr Francie Molloy said the material was included with information released to a person preparing a defence for court.
The notes are allegedly by an officer who finished duty at midnight and was woken at 4 a.m. by disturbances. He overheard two named colleagues discussing personal problems and one suggested that they commit suicide. "This was a serious suggestion and I could tell that G had drink taken."
Mr Molloy yesterday said he wanted to know if the two officers were still on duty. "This is a clear example of why every member of the RUC who wishes to enter any new police service must go through very strict vetting procedures, including psychiatric evaluation", he added.
