SF names Dublin candidate

Sinn Fein has named its candidate for the Dublin South Central Dail by-election

Sinn Fein has named its candidate for the Dublin South Central Dail by-election. He is Mr Aengus O Snodaigh, a services officer with Bord na Gailge and a SIPTU trade union shop steward.

Mr O Snodaigh (35) was selected by a party convention. He is a former chairperson of Dublin Sinn Fein and was a member of the Dublin officer board from 1984 to 1996. The Green Party has selected Trinity College Librarian, Mr John Goodwillie. He was the Greens' Candidate I the 1997 general election when he secured 1,603 first preference votes.

The by-election was caused by the death of Labour TD Dr Pat Upton.
