SF urges money for childcare

Revenue from unpaid DIRT by the financial institutions should be diverted into child care, Sinn Fein says

Revenue from unpaid DIRT by the financial institutions should be diverted into child care, Sinn Fein says. Announcing the party's pre-Budget submission, Mr Caoimhghin O Colain TD said £500 million should be injected into childcare, incorporating the unpaid DIRT and money already set aside.

The party has proposed increased tax-free allowances for the low-paid and the single, with exemptions from the higher rate of tax below £28,400. An increase in capital gains tax on owners of multiple dwellings to 40 per cent to encourage them to sell their assets would help to deflate house prices, it says.
