Shelbourne General Secretary Ollie Byrne this afternoon reacted with anger to suggestions his club would refuse to play Cork City this weekend as part of its efforts to keep the "Marney Affair" alive.

"The fixture list says Cork play Shelbourne this Sunday and this club has made no statement to the contrary," said Byrne, who nonethless would not confirm his club would definitely make the trip to Turner's Cross.

Despite the High Court's refusal last Monday to uphold Shelbourne's complaints about the arbitration process that allowed St. Patrick's Athletic escape a points deduction for fielding Paul Marney while unregistered, the Tolka Park club have still not said they will let the matter lie.

Eircom League Commissioner Roy Dooney confirmed he is still in talks with Shelbourne over how best to proceed with the season and said this afternoon: "We are inching our way towards resolution".
