Portsmouth midfielder Tim Sherwood has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a double fracture of his left leg.

The 34-year-old former Blackburn Rovers player suffered the injury during Portsmouth's 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

"It's a massive blow, he's been doing a terrific job for us," Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports. "We won't see him again this season."

Portsmouth lie 15th in the 20-team premier league standings, battling to retain their top-flight status after being promoted as first division champions at the end of last season.
