A special preview performance of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in London's West End last night raised £100,000 sterling towards the reconstruction of Omagh in the aftermath of the bombing of August 15th, 1998.

The Beautiful Game, written by the comedian Ben Elton, was performed at the Cambridge Theatre in aid of The Ireland Funds. The money raised at the event will be donated to the Omagh Community House Project on the site of the explosion in the Co Tyrone town.

The facility will be owned and operated by 20 non-profit-making organisations such as Mencap, the Churches Forum and women's and youth groups. The building will include a Room for Reflection which will house some of the many books of condolences sent to Omagh in the aftermath of the atrocity.
