An 18th-century silver chalice has been discovered in the Augustinian Church in O'Connell Street, Limerick. It was found behind the main altar in a cylinder at the back of a safe.

An inscription says it was donated by Madam Alice Nagle to the Augustinian Sisters in Dublin in 1750.

Father Liam Ryan OSA said he "can only assume it was brought to our headquarters in Fish Lane, Limerick, when the convent was suppressed in penal times".
