HOK Fine Art will hold a clearance auction at Rookstown House on Thormanby Road in Howth, Co Dublin next Sunday. The 360 or so lots will include furniture, silver, porcelain and paintings as well as general household furniture, garden furniture and, unusually, wine and cigars.
There are several interesting items, notably a rosewood and brass inlaid side cabinet attributed to Gilligtons of Dublin and dating from around 1820. It carries an estimate of €3,000 - €5,000; a mahogany and satinwood bowed chest of small propotions and dating from around 1800, has an estimate of €1,000 - €1,500; an 18th century boulle and ormulu bracket clock is expected to fetch up to €1,000, while a mahogany dining table, in the manner of Hicks, has a top estimate of €2,000.
The silver lots include small collectable items such as decanter labels and small boxes while among the wine lots on offer are bottles of Chateau Talbot and Chateau Palmer.
