The Supreme Court will next week deliver its judgment on the State's appeal against a landmark High Court decision that the constitutional entitlement to free primary education of an autistic man, Mr Jamie Sinnott, is based on need, not age, and does not cease at 18, writes Mary Carolan.
The case taken by Mr Jamie Sinnott (23), and his mother, Kathryn, of Ballin hassig, Co Cork, is regarded as a test case in establishing the extent of the State's obligation to provide free primary education.
