A sit-in is continuing at the Co Offaly nursing home that announced it was to close last week.

Over 50 staff, including nurses, have refused to vacate Tullybeg Retirement Village at Rahan, just outside Tullamore until they receive back pay they say they are due.

Some members of staff were paid a portion of their outstanding wages on Friday last. Others didn't get any back pay and the group have vowed to sit- in until all the money is paid.

Staff member Ms Maura Healion said they had received a communication from a director of the company outlining that the wages would be paid once money came into the business.
