Paris Bakery workers hope for development in wages dispute

A group of employees refusing to leave the Paris Bakery in Dublin in a dispute over unpaid wages say they hope the impasse can be resolved today following talks with the owner and his solicitor.

Workers occupied the premises on Moore Street last week after the company's owner Yannick Forel refused to commit to paying over €55,000 which the workers say are due in wages.

The French Bakery was due to close next month.

Staff arrived last Wednesday to seek unpaid wages but found the premises closed over what management described as electricity issues.

The building has been occupied since efforts were made to remove equipment and other assets.

"We are just waiting for tomorrow as he [Mr Forel] is meant to be coming with a solicitor but we don't have any information," workers' spokeswoman Anissa Hosany said last night.

“We are just going to keep fighting and remain positive.”
