A number of sporting fixtures have been cancelled in the aftermath of yesterday’s attacks in the United States.
In soccer, all of this week's remaining Champions League and UEFA Cup ties have been rescheduled as a "mark of respect" to the victims of yesterday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
The eircom League today said that they will observe this Friday's national day of mourning, and have postponed the four matches scheduled for that evening. A two-minute silence will be observed before kick-off at all matches taking place on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Friday’s national day of mourning also affects racing at Downpatrick. The meeting scheduled for Friday has been put back by 24 hours by the Turf Club.
