South Africa ran in eight tries to kill off Samoa's World Cup dream as they won 60-10 to claim the final berth in the quarter-finals.
The Springboks, clearly relishing the physical challenge set by their opponents while showing real pace behind, killed off the game with four tries in the first half to qualify with England from pool C.
They set the tone by wheeling a scrum with less than two minutes gone for Joost van der Westhuizen to escape down the blindside and put flanker Joe van Niekerk over.
Flyhalf Derick Hougaard ended with a full house - a try, a drop goal, a penalty and five conversions for 21 points.
Samoa, 31-3 down and out of the game at halftime, regained some pride with a try of their own, lock Opeta Palepoi stretching over in the left corner.
