Former world middleweight boxing champion Steve Collins has been cleared by a British court of assaulting a 70-year-old lorry driver during an alleged road rage incident.
Mr Collins (37), of Shoeburyness, Essex, was yesterday found not guilty of assaulting Mr David Kimpton by magistrates in Southend, Essex.
Mr Kimpton had alleged that Mr Collins punched him in the face after forcing his lorry to stop in Southend in October. But magistrates cleared Mr Collins, who had denied assault, of any offence following a two-day hearing.
After the hearing Mr Collins said he was delighted that his reputation remained intact and insisted that he never threw punches outside the ring."Thankfully for me my version of the story came out and I am just glad that I have kept my good name," he said.
