Police in Tyrone have failed to recover cheques from a stolen bank book because people had eaten them, a court has heard. A detective constable told of the disappearance at a special court in Cookstown yesterday.
Ms Donna Bell (23), unemployed, of Blackhill, Cookstown, was remanded in custody until June 12th and charged with handling stolen cheques.
When asked by the magistrate if all the cheques had been recovered, the policeman said several were missing as they had been eaten by other people involved in the case. Ms Bell had denied the charge.
