Strong Flow, runaway winner of the 2003 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup, is set to make his eagerly-awaited comeback in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at Warwick on Saturday.
Winner of five of his six starts over fences, the eight-year-old has not been seen since injuring himself when landing the Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton 13 months ago.
Strong Flow is Paul Nicholls' leading Cheltenham Gold Cup contender and, after considerable support over the weekend, the gelding is now as low as 8-1 for the March 19th contest.
A total of 37 horses have been entered for this weekend's three-mile-one-furlong event.
