Kabul - The Taliban Islamic militia poured reinforcements into Mazar-i-Sharif yesterday as the opposition denied its troops had been routed and claimed to have recaptured the key northern Afghan city.
Independent sources said heavy Taliban reinforcements were pouring into Mazar-i-Sharif after the militia seized the city in a dawn attack on Saturday. The Taliban had met little resistance as it secured "overall control" of Mazar-iSharif, the last Afghan city to elude its control.
