Talk in the library

The Law Library has never looked so colourful

The Law Library has never looked so colourful. The walls are festooned with paintings of fruit, vegetables, seascapes and one of "Vince Asleep"! Maire Keogh's first solo exhibition is at the Law Library on Church Street and receives tremendous applause. The artist's work is snapped up by attendees including her brother, Colm Mac Eochaidh, one of the Flood Tribunal barristers. The artist's mother, Myra Keogh, author of the children's cookbook, Paisti sa Chistin, is, of course, beaming with pride too. And Maire's husband, Vince Murphy, captured in crayon as he napped in one of the pictures, is awake at the opening . . . Meanwhile, an auction to chase away those rainy blues away is held in Newman House, raising in excess of £20,000 for the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF). Bill Shipsey, senior counsel and chair of the IHF, misses his son Dylan's 14th birthday to attend. Busy checking out the wine line-up before the bidding begins are Louisa Richardson, CEO of the IHF, with her wine-buff sister, Marlene Hackett; and Olive Braiden, a board member of the newly formed Human Rights Commission.
