TALLAGHT Hospital, in Co Dublin, is to receive a further investment of £11 million for additional facilities, the Minister for Health, Mr Noonan, has announced. The hospital, due to be completed later this year, had an original budget of £123 million.

Mr Noonan has cleared capital works costing over £4 million to provide for an extension to the out-patients' department and improvements in X-ray facilities, theatres and the sterile supplies department.

The Minister has also sanctioned a further £7 million to be spent on a private bed facility attached to the main hospital. This will be financed by the hospital board and will provide 77 extra beds and associated consulting rooms. He said it would "allow for a similar mix of private and public patients as exists in the hospitals transferring to Tallaght".
