Taoiseach's day:Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said no date has been set for releasing a statement on the purchase of his Dublin home.
"I said I would do it during the campaign. It is impossible to say when," said Mr Ahern, who added that he would also have to campaign while putting the statement together.
Asked about the role of the PDs on the issue, he said he dealt with issues as they arose. "What the people are asking about are the issues. Today, we are on about the corporation tax issue, which is hugely important."
Asked about his preference for the PDs as a post-election government partner, Mr Ahern said he was working hard so that he could say he would be in government after the election. "If I am in that position, I will work out the next bit," he added.
Again ruling out a coalition with Sinn Féin, he emphasised the policy differences between the two parties. "Imagine going over to Europe with a party which is against Europe."
Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil has committed itself to developing the GPO in Dublin as a museum, Mr Ahern said.
He said it was hoped to have the museum ready for the centenary of the 1916 Rising.
"The idea is that people would be able to enter the building from O'Connell Street and walk right through it," Mr Ahern said. "The preliminary plans have been drafted by the OPW and it is hoped to start construction work in 2008 or 2009."
After attending the State's annual 1916 commemoration at Arbour Hill, Mr Ahern visited the National Museum at Collins Barracks to view the recently acquired Pádraig Pearse letter.
"Ireland's history belongs to every Irish person and I am delighted that this letter of major historical significance is now in the possession of the State," he said. "This State has its roots in 1916. It is a pivotal turning point in our history."
Mr Ahern said it was also proposed to establish a museum of Irish literature in Parnell Square, Dublin. He added that the Government also hoped to provide a sports' museum.
"This is a new concept. Croke Park has a good museum of its own, but there is no other one. The sporting organisations individually would not have the capacity or the resources to be able to provide a museum."
