A 68-year-old taximan who indecently assaulted a female passenger was bound to the peace and fined £200 at Drogheda District Court yesterday. The court heard that Brendan Byrne, Colvey Hill, Monasterboice, no longer has a PSV licence.

He denied indecently assaulting the woman and exposing himself to her on April 24th, 1996. She told the court that Byrne stopped at a garage and she went to the adjoining shop. When she got back into the passenger seat she saw his trousers zip was undone and he told her he had masturhated. She said she has been terrified of getting into taxis since the incident.
