A taxi-driver was caught drink-driving his cab twice in a three month period and was serving a 10- year driving ban during one of the offences, Dublin District Court heard yesterday.
Martin Brennan (50), Glasnevin Avenue, Dublin, pleaded guilty to driving with more than four times the legal alcohol limit in September last year and with nearly three times the limit the following December.
He had been banned from driving for 10 years on September 18th last year after he was convicted of another two drink driving offences.
The court heard he was a severe alcoholic and had since undergone treatment. He had lost his taxi licence.
Judge Mary Collins imposed two six-month sentences, suspended on condition that he co-operates with the probation services. She also banned him from driving for 10 years.
