Boxing: Katie Taylor received a bye into the quarter-final of the lightweight section of the European Union Championships in Pazardjik, Bulgaria where she will begin the defence of her title against Italy's Cordio Giacoma today.
The winner of that bout will meet either Cindy Orain of France or Turkey’s Erkan Melek in Friday’s semi-final with the winner advancing to face either Denitza Eliseevan of Bulgaria or Poland’s Aeksandra Paczka in Saturday’s 60Kg final.
Taylor is the current World and European champion and the AIBA world female boxer of the year 2008.
