The chairman of the conservative Tea Party Patriots group was arrested at a New York City airport today for gun possession, a spokeswoman for the Queens District Attorney said.
Mark Meckler has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and would be charged shortly, said a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
He was arrested at LaGuardia airport.
The Tea Party Patriots is one of the biggest groups within the grassroots fiscal conservative Tea Party movement, which emerged in 2009 and has helped elect dozens of Republicans.
