New York - A handful of institutions will receive some $560 million from the estate of a seemingly ordinary couple of teachers, the New York Times reported yesterday. Mr Donald Othmer, a university professor, and his wife Mildred, a former teacher and dress store buyer, accumulated a combined estate worth an estimated $750 million after they invested most of their savings with a family friend, Mr Warren Buffett, a noted investor and billionaire.

Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, where Mr Othmar taught, stands to receive nearly $200 million, Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn is expecting some $160 million, the University of Nebraska $100 million and the Chemical Heritage Foundation of Philadelphia another $100 million.
