BANGKOK – Thailand’s Election Commission cleared the way yesterday for a new parliament to convene and choose a prime minister, saying it had endorsed enough winning candidates from the July 3rd election to provide a quorum.

The commission ratified an additional 94 winners yesterday, taking the total number of endorsements to 496 of the 500 would-be law makers. Parliament must hold a formal opening by next Monday. – (Reuters)
