Former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher's son, who denies funding a foiled coup in Africa, has agreed a plea bargain with a South African court in return for a lighter sentence, a family source said tonight.
Mr Mark Thatcher has denied charges before a Cape Town court of backing an attempt to overthrow the Equatorial government.
"It is true that there is a hearing in the High Court tomorrow. A plea bargain has been agreed between the state and him (Thatcher)," the source told reporters, asking not to be identified.
