Sean Spellissy, already the author of six books on Clare and Limerick history, adds to his reputation with this 380-page chronicle of the city of Limerick,, beginning with an 80-page history, followed by a district-by-district account based on local features, personalities and events, illustrated where possible with old and new photographs. There is a most useful and lengthy bibliography running to 24 pages, which includes not only books but magazines, maps and even unpublished material. In all, a most commendable effort.
