By now, there should be no gap showing and all available ground should be clothed and swathed with generous foliage, if not flowers - at least, that is the situation to which we all aspire. We never achieve it and that is why gardening is such an ongoing preoccupation and pleasure. So, now we can peruse the scene, casting a critical eye over all, noting success and marking areas for improvement.
There is no point in hoping to remember the disastrous corners, where to add some more bulbs, where to make one thing or another and so on. Notes must be made: as soon as a plant goes out of flower its merits or otherwise will be forgotten unless the comment and decision is written down. It helps to mark candidates or areas for change with a bamboo.
