Three children were rescued in three separate incidents in the Wicklow mountains over the weekend.

Three children were rescued in three separate incidents in the Wicklow mountains over the weekend.

Gardaí called out the Glen of Imaal mountain rescue team and Dublin/Wicklow mountain rescue team to help rescue a seven-year-old girl who sustained a leg injury when she fell while walking on the Spink mountain walk in Glendalough with her family.

She was airlifted with her mother and aunt to Baldonnel Airport and transported from there to Tallaght hospital.

On Saturday, The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were called to rescue a 17-year-old boy from Djouce Mountain after he sustained a lower leg injury.

Shortly after 3.30pm an Irish Coastguard helicopter airlifted the teenager to hospital for treatment.

Later on Saturday evening, the rescue teams were called to search for a missing nine-year-old boy in Glendalough.

The boy, who had been with two other family members, got separated while on a walk in the hills but was found shortly afterward.
