A woman and two small children were in a house in Limerick when shots were fired through a window at the weekend. The incident occurred at Altimira Park, Thomondgate, on Saturday night about 11 p.m. Two men drove up to the house on a motorcycle and fired two shots through the sitting-room window. No one was injured.

A shot was fired during a raid on a Chinese takeaway in the same area of the city at the weekend. Two armed and masked raiders forced staff to hand over the cash register at the Golden Gate in Thomond gate, near the Treaty Stone, at about 1 a.m. on Saturday. There were three customers in the takeaway at the time. A shot was fired from a shotgun outside the takeaway, but no one was injured. The car used by the thieves was later found abandoned in the Moyross area. It had been reported stolen from Dooradoyle.
