A woman and two men were in custody in north Dublin last night following the seizure of ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of £500,000, writes Catherine Cleary, Drugs and Crime Correspondent.

Around 40,000 tablets were found on the floor of a car near Donaghmede shopping centre in north Dublin at around 9.05 p.m. last night. The driver of the car, a 26-year-old woman, was arrested and taken to Clontarf Garda station.

The drugs were divided into 40 packets of 1,000 tablets, which could each be sold for between £10 and £12. They were packed into a large sports bag, which was placed on the floor of the car. The seizure was part of an ongoing Garda operation.

A man was arrested on the street near where the car was stopped shortly afterwards. Gardai said the 35 year-old man was found with about 20 deals of heroin and a small amount of cocaine and amphetamines.
