Three held after raids in Limerick

FOUR men and a woman were arrested yesterday in dawn raids on houses and shops in Limerick city.

FOUR men and a woman were arrested yesterday in dawn raids on houses and shops in Limerick city.

One man and the woman were released from Henry Street Garda station last night. The three men still detained are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Chief Supt Michael Fitzgerald said the raids related to the recent widespread use of firearms, and was part of an ongoing operation. He said some firearms and property believed to have been stolen were recovered.

Thirty gardai, backed up by the divisional search team, took part in the raids.
