Three men have been arrested and two guns seized after a shooting in Limerick city this morning.

The shooting happened on Flood Street at 9.40 a.m. Gardai said officers who were on patrol in the area heard a number of shots being fired and in follow up searches found a sawn off shot gun and a .22 rifle on wasteground.

They also arrested three men, one in his mid 20's, one aged 30 and another in his mid 30s. All three are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in Henry Street Garda Station.

No injuries have been reported following the shooting but investigations are continuing, gardai said.
