Three people have been arrested by gardaí investigating the death of a man in Dublin in December.

Christopher Warren (36), of St Teresa's Gardens, Dolphin's Barn, was shot near Phibsboro and died after being dumped at St James's Hospital on the evening of December 28th last.

Warren, a prolific burglar, was on temporary release from jail when he was killed.

His was linked to a dispute that began following an assault on a woman. It is understood that Warren had been summoned to meet a number of men close to her for a punishment attack.

Gardaí this morning arrested three men – two in their 20s and one in his 60s - in connection with his death.

They are being detained at Garda stations in the north inner city.

The arrests bring to five the number of persons detained as part of the investigation.
