A file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions after an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident in Killarney early on Saturday morning. Leon McSharry (14) was cycling on Park Road, Ballyspillane, when he was struck by a passing car.

A 39-year-old pedestrian was killed after she was struck by a car at Drumheckil, Carrick-on-Shannon, on Saturday night. Also on Saturday night, Mr Kieran Cronan (20) from Bantry, Co Cork, died when his car went off the road at Dun bittern, Bantry. Three passengers in the car received minor injuries.
